The Unfinished Manifesto (and always)

IRRATIONALITY, INDETERMINACY, CHANCE & THE MARVELOUS

• We shall create an ongoing site for the absurd in which poets and other artists/thinkers/people interact to create as yet unknowable new visions.
• We shall give people the tools to locate, undermine, evade, implode, and/or neuter the fascist wave rolling across the land.
• We shall invigorate hope. One can always access the imagination. One can always disrupt one's conventional assumptions. Individual genius is not required, nor especially desired.
• We shall use irrationality and surprise, collectively, as a machete to hack a path toward revolution/resistance/social progress.
• We shall have fun, together.
• We shall unmarginalize the arts by bringing the arts as a whole to the center, where it belongs, instead of accepting the truly absurd notion that culture is fringe without consequence.
• We shall invest ourselves and others with the sense that art matters, and that what we do matters, and that the truest art is in the way one approaches one's life.
• We shall further orchestrate dialogue among the arts with these goals in mind. We are stronger when we feed off each other, when we import ideas to and from each other. And when we disagree, we promise to make a big commotion.
• We shall give intellectuals, progressives, etc. a home, because we are so marginalized, so debased by neglect. And because, unlike with chicken, it's not better to be a free-range intellectual.
• We shall bring poetry in particular to a wider audience by infusing it with other art forms and by discussing the issues we care about. Rather than dumbing it down to reach more people, we will mix it up.
• We shall create a framework/structure of tensile strength. It will be flexible but firm enough to hold and spur all our ideas.
• We shall use the tools of our democracy.
• We shall create collisions, collusions, collages, coalitions, and justapositions.
• We shall not be afraid to make a really big mess.
